Attending Art School in Chicago

Chicago is historically a very supportive environment for artists of all stripes.  The city offers an abundance of galleries, museums, fine architecture and studios to enjoy.  It is a unique environment to learn in as students are spoiled for choice both by the number of institutions on offer and the job opportunities available post-graduation.  This combination of factors makes Chicago a top choice for artists of all disciplines.

Artists who prefer a university education will find that Loyola University offers degrees in Ceramics, Photography, Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Art History and Visual Studies.  DePaul University is a much larger private, Catholic university that offer courses in Ceramics, Design, Graphic Design, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture as well as undergraduate degrees in Media Arts, Art and Design, Art History and Fine Arts.  Northwestern University is a large public institution offering courses in Drawing, Painting, Sculpture, Photography, Printmaking, Art History, Art and Technology and Lithography.

Students who are looking for postgraduate courses will find The Institute of Design at the Illinois Institute of Technology to be just the ticket.  The Institute offers entirely original and innovative Masters and Doctoral programs in communication design, product design and design planning.

A more practical, hands-on education can be found at the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago.  The school offers courses in every imaginable discipline relating to the visual arts.  Some courses include jewellery, metals, woods, ceramics, photography, art criticism, fine art, painting, silk screening and sculpture.
