Attending Art School in Charlotte

The Charlotte Metropolitan Area is considered to be the cultural center of the Carolinas.  It is the largest city in the area and boasts several galleries and studios as well as architectural and interior design companies and advertising agencies.  The art scene is thriving despite of the city’s physical distance from other large centers.  This is good news for art students, as there are plenty of opportunities for artists in all disciplines.

Considered the economic and cultural center of the Carolinas, the Charlotte metropolitan area has many art schools, galleries, and studios in addition to numerous architectural and interior design firms, and several advertising agencies. Its thriving arts and business communities provide numerous opportunities for arts students of all disciplines.

The Art Department at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte is by far the biggest art school in the state.  UNCC offers degree courses in Art Education, Art History, Ceramics, Drawing, Fibers/Textiles/Weaving, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture and  Studio Art.

There other art schools in Charlotte offer a more practical program, with little emphasis on academics. King’s College offers a certificate or associate degree in Graphic Design.
