Buffalo Art Schools

Attending Art School in Buffalo

Although Buffalo/Niagara is the second largest metropolitan area in New York State, there is not a lot going on in the Buffalo art scene.  The low population density combined with the high concentration of art events and artists in New York City means that Buffalo is a bit of an art vacuum.

University at Buffalo is part of the State University of New York system and is the largest campus in the network.  You can study for a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting Photography, Printmaking or Sculpture as well as Computer Art, Communication Design and Visual Studies.  Bachelor of Arts programs and minors are available for those students who wish to combine studies with another discipline.

Buffalo State College is also a part of the State University of New York.  It is a much smaller campus located further out of the city center.  The Fine Arts department offers degree courses in art, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

Daemon College is a small liberal arts college located in the Buffalo suburb of Amherst, which was recently named the safest city in America.  The college offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Sculpture, Printmaking, Drawing/Illustrating or Graphic Design.  The average teacher/student ratio at the college is 15:1 making Daemon an intimate environment where students really get to know their instructors.
